Infosys has three fresher tracks, System Engineer (SE), Specialist Programmer (SP), and Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE), and the Power Programmer pathway sits above them. The hiring exam, run on the InfyTQ / Mettl platform, is the same for all four tracks; the difference is in the cutoff. This page is a 40-question rehearsal sized to the real test.

Background: read Infosys placement papers 2026 and Infosys SP DSE coding questions before starting.

Section Pattern (2026 Cycle)

SectionQuestionsTimeWhat it tests
Logical Reasoning1525 minPuzzles, syllogism, series, blood relations
Mathematical Ability1035 minNumber system, percentages, time-distance
Verbal Ability1020 minRC, error spotting, sentence completion
Pseudocode510 minC-style pseudo, OOP, basic data structures

Cutoffs vary by year. In 2024–25 cycles, SP candidates needed roughly 30 of 40 correct for shortlisting; SE candidates around 24 of 40. This is not an official figure, it is the median across publicly shared candidate post-mortems on Reddit, Quora, and Telegram groups. Use it as a north-star, not a guarantee.

Section A, Logical Reasoning (15 Questions)

  1. If '+' means '×', '-' means '+', '×' means '÷', '÷' means '-', then 16 + 5 - 4 × 2 ÷ 3 = ?
  2. Syllogism: Some books are pens. All pens are red. Conclusion?
  3. Number series: 7, 14, 28, 56, 112, ?
  4. Letter series: AZ, BY, CX, DW, ?
  5. Coding: If 'PEN' = 35, 'INK' = 27, what is 'BOOK' = ?
  6. Direction: Mona walks 10 m north, turns right 5 m, then south 10 m. Which direction is she facing now?
  7. Blood relation: Pointing to a man, Sita said, "He is the son of my mother's only daughter." How is the man related to Sita?
  8. Seating arrangement: Six friends sit around a circular table. A is opposite to D; B is to the right of A; C is between D and E; F is to the left of A. Who sits opposite to E?
  9. Statement-conclusion: "Smoking is harmful." Conclusion 1: Non-smokers live longer. Conclusion 2: Smokers should quit. Which follows?
  10. Cubes: A cube of side 5 cm is painted on all 6 faces and cut into 1 cm cubes. How many cubes have no face painted?
  11. Calendar: What day was 26 January 1950?
  12. Cause–effect: Two events given, decide if A causes B, B causes A, or both are independent effects.
  13. Data sufficiency: Find x given Statement I or II alone or both together.
  14. Inequality: Decode the relationship: A > B < C ≥ D > E. Is A > D necessarily true?
  15. Puzzle: Five colleagues live on five floors. Given 3 clues, find the floor of person C.

Section B, Mathematical Ability (10 Questions)

  1. Find the unit digit of 7^123 × 8^124.
  2. The ratio of A's salary to B's is 4 : 5. If A's salary increases by 25% and B's by 20%, the new ratio is:
  3. A pipe fills a tank in 8 hours; another empties it in 12 hours. If both are open, how long to fill the tank?
  4. The sum of digits of a two-digit number is 9. The number obtained by reversing the digits is 27 less than the original. Find the number.
  5. A boat takes 3 hours to row 30 km downstream and 6 hours to row 30 km upstream. Find the speed of the boat in still water.
  6. The simple interest on ₹15,000 for 3 years exceeds the compound interest by ₹54.50. Find the rate of interest.
  7. The probability that a leap year selected at random has 53 Sundays is:
  8. Find the smallest number which when divided by 24, 36, and 54 leaves a remainder of 5 in each case.
  9. The mean of 25 numbers is 80. If two numbers (75 and 85) are removed, find the new mean.
  10. A cylinder has height 14 cm and radius 7 cm. Find its total surface area. (Use π = 22/7)

Section C, Verbal Ability (10 Questions)

  1. Synonym of CANDID: (a) deceitful (b) frank (c) hidden (d) optional
  2. Antonym of TENACIOUS: (a) persistent (b) yielding (c) loyal (d) firm
  3. Identify the error: Neither of the answers are correct.
  4. Choose the correctly spelt word: (a) embarass (b) embarass (c) embarrass (d) embaras
  5. Reading comprehension, passage on AI in Indian education (~120 words). Q30–Q32 follow.
  6. According to the passage, the author's view on AI tutors is: (a) skeptical (b) enthusiastic but cautious (c) dismissive (d) neutral
  7. The phrase "double-edged sword" in para 2 means:
  8. Para-jumble: P, Q, R, S, choose the right order.
  9. Choose the correct active-voice equivalent of: The match was won by India.
  10. Fill in the blank: Hardly had he reached the station ____ the train left. (a) when (b) than (c) then (d) and

Section D, Pseudocode (5 Questions)

  1. Predict the output:
    int a = 10, b = 5;
    if (a > b) {
       a = a - b;
    } else {
       a = b - a;
    }
    print(a);

  2. Identify the time complexity:
    for (i = 1; i <= n; i = i * 2) {
       print(i);
    }

  3. Which sorting algorithm has the best worst-case time complexity among Bubble Sort, Selection Sort, and Merge Sort?
  4. Predict the output of recursive function:
    fn(n) {
       if (n <= 0) return 0;
       return n + fn(n - 2);
    }
    print(fn(6));

Score Interpretation

  • 34+ / 40 (85%): SP/DSE shortlist zone. Solid pseudocode and DSA fundamentals.
  • 27–33 / 40 (68–82%): SE shortlist zone. Tighten Mathematical Ability gaps.
  • 20–26 / 40 (50–65%): Below cutoff for most years. Restart with the Infosys SP 30-day plan.
  • Below 20: Build fundamentals first using the DSA sheet and the logical reasoning shortcuts.

Two Things Most Candidates Get Wrong

  1. Underestimating Verbal. Indian engineering students treat verbal as easy filler, then lose 4–5 marks to subject-verb agreement and tense errors. Spend a week on grammar drills, it is the cheapest section to improve.
  2. Coding Pseudocode is not coding. It tests reading code, not writing it. Practice tracing recursion calls on paper. Most candidates fail Q39-style problems because they cannot keep a manual call stack.

For the actual coding round (post-aptitude), see Infosys SP/DSE coding questions.
