Tier Breakdown

Tier 1 (product / global MNC, selective intake): Google, Amazon, Microsoft. Total compensation 25 to 60 LPA depending on level and band. Intake is small, campus presence is restricted to premier institutes. A Tier 1 offer is a different category from everything below it.

Tier 2 (premium IT-services and Big Four tech): TCS Digital/Prime, Infosys DSE and above, Wipro Turbo, Cognizant GenC Next, Capgemini Senior Analyst, Deloitte USI Technology Analyst. CTC range broadly 6 to 21 LPA. These roles have a defined technical assessment that separates them from mass-hiring tracks.

What CTC Does Not Tell You

A few components that change how a Tier 3 offer actually feels in-hand.

Variable pay payout: Most IT-services companies include 8 to 15 percent variable pay in their stated CTC. This is paid only on hitting performance targets and quarterly company targets, often prorated in the first year. Do not count it as fixed monthly income.

PF and gratuity inclusion: Employer PF contribution (12 percent of basic) and gratuity accrual are standard CTC inclusions. These are real benefits but do not appear in your monthly bank credit.

Joining bonus repayment clause: Infosys DSE, Wipro Elite, and TCS all carry service-bond or joining-bonus repayment clauses. Read the exact clause in your offer letter before you count the joining bonus as income.

Location differences: Companies do not universally pay location allowances to freshers. A 4.5 LPA offer in Mumbai carries a higher cost-of-living burden than the same CTC in Hyderabad or Pune.


How to Verify Any Salary Figure Before You Rely on It

  1. Check the official company careers portal for the stated role and band (TCS NexStep, Infosys recruitment portal, Wipro careers, Accenture MyAccess, and so on).
  2. Cross-check on AmbitionBox or Glassdoor India filtered to the specific role and 0 to 1 year experience band.

Accenture's brand in consulting-adjacent work typically opens slightly more options in the first two years. If you are from a target college for TCS Digital, attempt that test before deciding.

Is the Infosys Specialist Programmer really worth 21 LPA for a fresher?

SP L3 is a niche coding role, not mass-hiring. Intake runs in the hundreds nationally. The assessment is a two-round competitive coding test, not a standard aptitude test. It is worth attempting if you have competitive programming practice, but do not plan your offer strategy around clearing SP L3 if you have not already been coding on LeetCode medium or above regularly.

Do Amazon, Google, and Microsoft hire from non-IIT campuses in India?

Amazon SDE-1 has the broadest campus coverage among the three, including some NIT and private university campuses.
