TCS Cutoff 2026: What TCS Publishes, and What It Does Not

What TCS actually publishes about NQT cutoffs, what it does not, and why the out-of-120 score tables you see elsewhere cannot be sourced.

TCS NQT 2026 uses one integrated test performance to route candidates toward Ninja, Digital, or Prime interviews. This article replaces retired raw-score and section-hurdle tables with the current 83-question, 190-minute model and marks every unpublished threshold honestly.

For this update, PapersAdda compared the official TCS hiring page with two current public preparation resources that independently report the same question count, timings, and no-negative-marking rule. Confirm the instructions for your own slot on the official TCS portal before the test.

What Is the TCS NQT Cutoff?

TCS does not publish a fixed score, percentile, or independent section hurdle for the current hiring test. Its official hiring page describes one integrated assessment with Foundation and Advanced sections and says test performance can qualify candidates for Prime, Digital, or Ninja interviews. It also says Advanced is mandatory if you aspire for Digital or Prime.

That makes the cutoff an unpublished boundary between outcome bands, not four Ninja section cutoffs plus a separate Digital paper. Any third-party percentage can be a labelled mock-planning estimate, but it cannot be presented as a TCS qualifying number.

TCS NQT 2026 Cutoff: Integrated Band Model

Outcome bandWhat current evidence supportsWhat remains unpublished
NinjaOne integrated NQT performance can lead to Ninja interview eligibilityA fixed score, percentile, or section hurdle
DigitalThe same integrated test can lead to Digital eligibility; Advanced is mandatory for Digital aspirantsA fixed score, score weight, or coding cutoff
PrimeThe same integrated test can lead to Prime eligibility; Advanced is mandatory for Prime aspirantsA fixed score, score weight, or rank boundary

The current test has 83 questions in 190 minutes: Foundation 65 questions in 75 minutes, Advanced Quantitative and Reasoning about 15 questions in 25 minutes, and Advanced Coding 2-3 problems in 90 minutes. There is no separate Programming Logic sub-section and no negative marking.

Why the Old Cutoff Trend Cannot Be Carried Forward

The former table used totals out of 120 and a separate Programming Logic block. That structure belongs to the pre-2023 format and cannot be projected onto the current 83-question integrated test. TCS also does not publish a cross-year conversion from the retired score scale to the current result.

For 2026 preparation, compare full-length mocks only against the current question and time allocation. Track whole-test accuracy, completion, and coding test-case coverage over time. Do not call the resulting percentage a TCS cutoff.

Category-wise and College-band Considerations

TCS does not officially declare different cutoffs by caste category, the NQT score threshold applies uniformly. However, college-band effects are real:

TCS does not publish a numerical NQT adjustment by caste category, college tier, or campus versus off-campus route. A drive can use its own eligibility pool and hiring demand, but no public source supports adding or subtracting points from an integrated score. Check the live drive notice and your official result instead of using a college-band conversion. Review the current eligibility criteria before applying.

Academic eligibility (non-negotiable, regardless of NQT score):

CriterionRequirement
10th Standard≥ 60% or 6.0 CGPA
12th Standard≥ 60% or 6.0 CGPA
Graduation (B.E/B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc)≥ 60% or 6.0 CGPA throughout
Active backlogsZero at time of joining
Gap yearMaximum 2 years (cumulative, all gaps)

Failing any academic criterion disqualifies the candidate at the offer stage, even if NQT score is excellent. Check eligibility at TCS off-campus drive 2026 before applying.

How TCS Uses the Cutoff Score: Shortlisting to Offer

Understanding the pipeline prevents surprises after the exam.

Stage 1, NQT (Integrated Exam): TCS evaluates one performance across Foundation and Advanced and maps eligible candidates toward Ninja, Digital, or Prime interviews. The numerical band boundaries and section weights are not public.

Stage 2, Interview Shortlist:
Top-ranked candidates from each pool are called for interviews. In high-volume drives, the interview shortlist itself acts as a secondary cutoff, typically the top 40–60% of NQT qualifiers.

Stage 3, Technical + Managerial + HR Interview:
No fixed score here, but poor coding round performance (for Digital) or inability to explain projects kills offers. See TCS interview questions 2026 for a structured prep list.

Stage 4, Offer:
Background verification against academic eligibility, then offer letter. Ninja: ₹3.36 LPA fixed. Digital: ₹7 LPA CTC (higher variable component).

Preparation Strategy for the 2026 Integrated Test

A 12-week plan structured around the verified section timings:

Weeks 1–3: Numerical Ability Foundation

Cover arithmetic, ratios, profit-loss, time-speed-distance, work-time, and data interpretation. Practise the current 20-question block inside its 25-minute timer and review every error.

Weeks 4–6: Reasoning and Verbal

Reasoning: syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding, and seating arrangements. Verbal: reading comprehension, sentence correction, and fill-in-the-blanks with grammar logic. Train each verified 25-minute block without inventing a section minimum.

Weeks 7–9: Advanced Quantitative, Reasoning, and Coding

The current test has no separate Programming Logic sub-section. Prepare the 25-minute Advanced Quantitative and Reasoning block, then practise 2-3 coding problems inside the 90-minute Advanced Coding window. Focus on arrays, strings, recursion, and basic dynamic programming. Practice with TCS placement papers 2026 to calibrate difficulty.

Also work through TCS Ninja placement papers and TCS Digital placement papers for track-specific question patterns.

Weeks 10–12: Mock Tests + Weak Section Remediation

Take full-length timed mocks. Identify which block contributes the most wrong or unfinished questions and give that weakness the largest share of correction time. In the final week, stop learning new topics and consolidate speed on known question types.

Common Mistakes That Kill NQT Scores

1. Using a retired score scale. Totals out of 120 and four-section hurdle tables belong to the pre-2023 format. Build a tracking sheet around the current 83-question integrated test.

2. Skipping coding preparation because your target is Ninja. Advanced Coding is part of the integrated test, and Advanced is mandatory if you aspire for Digital or Prime. Start with basic array, string, and loop problems, then move into timed practice.

3. Not practicing under timed conditions. TCS NQT has per-section time limits. Practicing untimed inflates confidence. Use stopwatch from week 1, not week 10.

4. Assuming last year's paper pattern is identical. TCS revises question distribution regularly. The TCS NQT syllabus 2026 reflects the latest declared pattern, read it before finalizing your topic list.

5. Ignoring academic eligibility. A strong NQT performance does not override a drive's academic eligibility rules. Verify the current notice before investing months in preparation.

FAQs

Q: What is the minimum NQT score to clear TCS Ninja cutoff in 2026?

TCS has not published a fixed Ninja score or percentile for 2026. The current 83-question, 190-minute test produces one integrated performance result that maps to Ninja, Digital, or Prime interview eligibility, so an old score out of 120 is not a valid current cutoff.

Q: Is the TCS cutoff the same for all colleges?

TCS does not publish a fixed NQT cutoff or a numerical adjustment by college. Campus and off-campus drives can have different eligibility pools, so follow the live drive notice and official result rather than applying a college-tier conversion.

Q: Does TCS 2026 have negative marking in NQT?

TCS NQT does not use negative marking. A wrong answer scores zero, the same as a blank, so attempt every question and follow the coding evaluation instructions shown for your own slot.

Q: Can I appear for both Ninja and Digital in the same drive?

Candidates sit one integrated NQT rather than separate Ninja and Digital papers. The same performance maps to Ninja, Digital, or Prime interview eligibility, and the official TCS page says the Advanced section is mandatory if you aspire for Digital or Prime.

Q: What happens if I clear NQT but fail the interview?

The paid public TCS iON scorecard is valid for 2 years from result publication, but that FAQ does not guarantee eligibility in a later NextStep hiring drive. Check the later drive's official notice before relying on an earlier result.

Q: Is there a different cutoff for B.Sc / MCA candidates vs B.Tech?

TCS does not publish course-specific numerical band cutoffs. Eligible qualifications and role mapping can differ by hiring drive, so check the live notice instead of assuming a B.Sc, BCA, MCA, or B.Tech score conversion.

Q: How competitive is TCS NQT 2026 compared to Wipro or Cognizant?

These tests use different formats and unpublished hiring thresholds, so their cutoffs cannot be converted directly. Compare the live pattern and your timed mock performance for each employer instead of carrying a TCS score target into another test.
